SOUTH ELGIN, Ill. — Helen A. Stanczak, 93, of South Elgin, passed away on Saturday, April 23, 2016, in her home.
She was born on Oct. 4, 1922, in Bessemer, Mich., the daughter of Stanley and Bernice (Hlopek) Maslanka. Helen began working at the Elgin National Watch Factory and retired from Gibson Strings after many years. Helen loved dancing to Polka music, enjoyed cooking, gardening and spending time with her grandchildren. She will be dearly missed.
She was a member of St. Laurence Catholic Church in Elgin, and the Ladies of the Moose Lodge 799.
Survivors include her two children, Joseph (Bonnie) Stanczak, of Elgin Township, and Mary Kay (Ken) Hoch, of Batavia; five grandchildren, Stacey (Dennis) Adams, Matt and Mike Stanczak, Ben (Kristin) and Allison Dahm; two great-grandchildren, Tyler and Brandon Adams; brother, Wally (Dorothy) Maslanka; five sisters, Katie (Bob) Metzner, Irene Bonato, Margie Taetsch, Mary (Al) Sande and Clare (Norb) Gross; along with many nieces nephews and family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Frank E. Stanczak, in 2008; and three brothers, Ed, Joe and John Maslanka.
Funeral Mass was celebrated on April 30 at St. Laurence Catholic Church. She was buried at Lakewood Memorial Park in Elgin.
