LAKE VILLA, Ill. - Lana M. Warczak, 74, formerly of Lake Gogebic, Mich., passed away Sunday, Feb. 28, 2016, at her daughter and son-in-law's home in Lake Villa.
She was born on May 27, 1941, in Oak Park, the daughter of Norman and Mattie (Langlands) Kierland.
Lana's passion for life, sense of adventure, love of the Upper Peninsula and abundant outdoor activities led her and her husband, Thomas J. Warczak Sr., to build their dream home on beautiful Lake Gogebic.
Lana was an active member of the Fireflies, the women's auxiliary of the Lake Gogebic Volunteer Fire Department, where she organized numerous fund-raisers to support the department. She enjoyed being involved for many years in lake events.
Lana will long be remembered for her strength of character, willingness to share, kindness and her love and caring ways for her dear family and friends.
Lana is survived by her children, Karin (Keith) Herron, Lake Villa, Jeffrey (Pearl) Harth, Republic, Mo., Julie Jaeck, Wausau, Wis., Thomas Warczak Jr. (Jill Grande), Mosinee, Wis., and Timothy Warczak (Kim Fredriksen), Twin Lakes, Wis .; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; her loving companion, Wayne Woller, Marenisco, Mich .; and many cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her stepmother, Lillian Kierland; her beloved husband, Tom; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
A graveside service will be held Saturday, May 21, at 11 a.m., at the Marenisco Cemetery.
The Ringa Funeral Home in Lake Villa and Lakeside Memorial Chapel in Wakefield, Mich., assisted the family with funeral arrangements.
