Serving Gogebic, Iron and Ontonagon Counties
WAUWATOSA, Wis. - Leo F. Asunto, 95, passed away peacefully on April 28, 2016.
He is survived by his children, Marla and Randy.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Irene; parents, Karl and Hilma; brothers, Bruno, Charles, John, Reino, Hugo and Arne; and sisters, Elsie (Leclaw), Saima (Morris), Laila (Swanson) and Irene (Wendt).
Leo was born on a rural Hurley, farm that had no running water or electric lights. He and Irene were married while he was serving in the Army Air Corps during World War II. After the war they lived in Ironwood, Mich., until 1963 when they moved to Hartford. He worked as an accountant in the dairy industry but was a self taught handyman who helped many friends on a variety of projects. However, the job he was best at was being a husband and father. He will be missed by friends and relatives.
A thank you to Paul Wolff , a special friend who helped Leo through the many transitions of Alzheimer's disease.
No public service will be held. In memory of Leo, help a friend.
