HURLEY - Hurley kicked off its Memorial Day Weekend All-Terrain Vehicle Rally with a 45-minute parade of hundreds of machines in light rain Friday evening.
It didn't matter much to the ATV and side-by-side riders, many of whom were soaked in mud from trail riding earlier in the day.
Hurley Police Chief Dan Erspamer led the parade down Silver Street for the final time, as he's retiring this summer.
The covered side-by-side vehicles probably outnumbered the traditional ATVs on the parade route, which extended from Wisconsin 77 in Cary Location to U.S. 51 along Silver Street, with traffic control provided along the way.
Sunday features the annual mud pit run hosted by the Hurley Fire Department, with registration at noon and competition to begin at 1 p.m. off the trailhead.
The Hurley Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring the rally and is also conducting a selfie contest over the weekend, where ATV riders are encouraged to snap photos of themselves at 10 of 15 locations.
