BESSEMER, Mich. - Frank David Gamache, 84, a long-time resident of Bessemer, passed away Thursday evening, May 26, 2016.
Frank was born on Jan. 26, 1932, in Bessemer Township, a son of Frank and Anna (Chovan) Gamache. He attended A.D. Johnston High School in Bessemer and graduated in 1949.
Frank proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was honorably discharged as a corporal on July 1, 1954.
He was a faithful member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Ramsay.
Frank is survived by two sisters, Margaret (Bill) Schlomer, Hughesville, Mo., and Jean Baker, Champaign, Ill .; a brother, Robert (Judy), Holcombe, Wis .; many nieces and nephews, including a special nephew, David Schlomer and a devoted niece, Patty O'Neil; and other loving relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Marion Pooler and Ruth Migalski.
A memorial service will held Monday, June 6, at noon, preceded by visitation at 11:30 a.m., at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Steven Hyvonen officiating.
Following the service, a flag presentation will take place at the church under the auspices of the Upper Peninsula Funeral Honors Team.
Lunch will be served at the church fellowship hall following the military service.
Interment will take place at Hillcrest Cemetery, Bessemer.
