All Saints kindergarteners march

IRONWOOD - Wearing their finest clothes, four kindergarten students at All Saints Catholic Academy received their diplomas following Mass Wednesday morning.

As hymns filled Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, the four graduates in Emily Lightfoot's class made their way down the aisle to the front pew.

The graduates read Bible verses and sang alongside their parents and other family members in the congregation.

Graduates Cristina Braucher and Gavin Davis held a banner with a Psalm written in colorful letters, which read, "Keep me safe, O God; you are my hope."

Rev. Robb Jurkovich gave the kindergarteners and their fellow students a "final exam." He asked them what the first commandment is.

A student said to "love your God."

Jurkovich said the first commandment, "Love your God with all your mind, body and soul," is the most important commandment. He encouraged the students to treat others the way they want to be treated.

After the homily, the graduates each received their kindergarten diplomas, each decorated with a red ribbon.

The congregation then walked to the school for a reception.
