New Beginnings hosts color run around Sunday Lake

WAKEFIELD - New Beginnings had a good crowd for its Color Run/Walk/Roll on Saturday morning at Sunday Lake in Wakefield.

This was the eighth annual run/walk fundraiser for New Beginnings, but the first year that the color was introduced. "We put this on to raise funds as well as awareness in the community," said New Beginning's Director Stephanie Minielly.

The run began at the John Siira Pavilion at Eddy Park. Participants followed a route around Sunday Lake. At the finish line, New Beginnings staff and event coordinators threw colored powder at the runners and walkers as they arrived.

After the run, participants were treated to hot dogs, chips and beverages provided by Knights of Columbus, and live music by Denise Haas and Tammy Grewe. There were also prizes given away that were donated by local businesses.

New Beginnings is a non-profit organization that offers support and resources to local residents in need. Its fundraising throughout the year helps it stay in operation.
