DULUTH, Minn. — Shirley Hockenbrock, 73, of Hurley, Wis., died Wednesday, June 22, 2016, at St. Luke’s Hospital, Duluth.
Shirley was born on Feb. 4, 1943, to Otto and Mabel (Zandi) Sorvala.
She married David Hockenbrock on Feb. 21, 1970, at First Presbyterian Church in Hurley by Reverend James Walker.
Shirley was an instrumental member of First Presbyterian Church in Hurley. Shirley was also very active participant at the Iron County Fair, where she enjoyed entering her many talents into the fair exhibits, including her canned goods, baked goods and embroidery work.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Otto and Mabel; husband, David; and her daughter, Sherrie “Sis.”
She is survived by her son, Scott (Amy), of Foxboro, Wis .; grandchildren, Brett, of Britton, S.D., Brittany (Brandon) Murray, of Marshall, Wis., and Hunter and Hannah Hockenbrock, of Foxboro; and five great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister-in-law, Louise Rundstrom. of Gwinn, Mich.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, June 30, at the First Presbyterian Church in Hurley, with the Rev. Don Nickolson officiating. Shirley’s family will receive relatives and friends at 10 a.m. until the hour of service at the church on Thursday.
Committal will take place at the Riverside Cemetery, Ironwood.
Luncheon will follow the graveside service at the church.
