MELLEN, Wis. - Armus John Worlin, 88, went to heaven to be with the Lord on June 26, 2016, in Mellen.
Armus was born May 9, 1928, in Iron Belt where he lived until he joined the United States Armed Forces at age 18. He married Ruth Tilus on April 26, 1952, at Calvary Temple church in Waukegan, Ill., where Armus served faithfully for over 40 years.
In 1954, Armus accepted the job as manager of Daybreak Farm in Libertyville, Ill., raising Hereford cattle, corn and soybeans and that was where their four children grew up. He continued to farm there until 1992 when he "retired" and moved to Saxon with 40 head of cattle. Armus enjoyed many more years of farming and was an active member and served on the deacon board of the Ironwood Assembly of God church. He also was a member of the American Legion Mercier-Kero Post 371 of Saxon and enjoyed fishing and hunting with family and friends.
Armus is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Ruth; daughter, Marilyn (Rick) Ketcher; sons, John (Sharon) Worlin and James (Janet) Worlin; grandsons, Michael Worlin, Matthew (Rachael) Ketcher and Jordan (Tori) Ketcher; granddaughters, Anna (Mike) Codena, Rachel (Joshua) Weikal and Jessica Worlin; three great-granddaughters; three great-grandsons; and many nieces and nephews who loved their Uncle Armus dearly.
He was preceded in death by his son, Jeffery Worlin; grandson, Timothy Worlin; parents, John and Hulda Worlin; brother, Rudolph (Helen) Worlin; four sisters, Aune (Hugh) Philip, Ruth (Toivo) Hyvarinen, Elsie (Francis) Lampella and Esther (Toby) Huovila.
Visitation and funeral services will be on Wednesday, July 6, at the Ironwood Assembly of God church, 2100 E Cloverland Dr, Ironwood, MI 49938.
Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. and the funeral service will begin at 2 p.m. Interment will be immediately following at Lake View Cemetery in Saxon with military rites to be accorded by the American Legion Mercier-Kero Post 371.
A time of fellowship and celebration of Armus' life will be after the interment at the Ironwood Assembly of God church and all are welcome.
