MINNETONKA, Minn. - Virginia "Ginny" Forslund, 76, of Minnetonka, passed away July 17, 2016, at Methodist Hospital after a four-month illness.
She was preceded in death by parents, Leonard and Grace (Goodwin) Forslund.
She is survived by sister, Carole, Minnetonka; daughter, Lisa (Jason) Scarlett; and grandchildren, Ethan and Emily. She is also survived by many special cousins and wonderful friends.
Ginnny was born in Ironwood, Mich., where she attended elementary school, high school and junior college. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Northern Michigan University and her Masters of Arts from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor.
She was passionate about teaching. Her career began with one year in Ironwood at her alma mater, followed by a few years in Austin, Minn. She then spent the remainder of her career teaching English in Hopkins, at both Eisenhower and Lindbergh Senior Highs and West Junior High.
Ginny was an adventurous traveler, especially enjoying cruising worldwide.
A special thanks to her many friends for their continuous support and encouragement during her prolonged illness. Ginny was so appreciative of your caring and concern.
Memorial service will be held at Westwood Lutheran Church, 9001 Cedar Lake Road, St. Louis Park, on Thursday, July 21, at 11 a.m. Visitation prior to the service at 10 a.m. Luncheon will follow at the church. Memorials preferred to Westwood Lutheran or donor's choice.
