Man lost in Black River identified

BLACK RIVER HARBOR — The Negaunee man, whose body was recovered from the Black River Monday, has been identified.

Searchers found Jeramiah Joseph Truckey, 32, at approximately 9:30 a.m., Monday; ending the search that began shortly after 7:45 p.m., Sunday when the Gogebic County Sheriff’s Department received a 911 call about a man going in the river near Sandstone Falls.

Truckey and a friend may have been taking photos near the falls when might have tripped an fell into the water, TV-6, of Marquette reported.

While searchers found Truckey in the morning, the body wasn’t able to be retrieved until 4:30 p.m. due to the the dangerous water and difficult terrain.

The case remains under investigation, according to department sources.
