MILWAUKEE, Wis. - Charles Scott Austin, just two weeks shy of his 58th birthday, died in his sleep at the Milwaukee VA on Aug. 27, 2016, after a two-year battle with cancer.
He was born Sept. 6, 1958, at Walter Reed Hospital.
He was predeceased by his father and mother, Charles and Jeanette (nee Gagnon) Austin, who also died of cancer.
He is lovingly remembered by his sister, Catherine Kimm Austin, of Memphis, Tenn .; his brothers, Phillip Todd, of Marenisco, Mich., and Glenn Xavior, of Plattsburgh N.Y .; and his nieces, Melissa, Savannah and Sheridan. He leaves his sweet dog, Pookie, and joins his sweeter pup, Wetta.
He was a graduate of Whitnall High School, in Hales Corners. He served honorably in the Marine Corps and worked for Aquatic Pools for many years, before owning his own business, Blue Sky Pools, in Albuquerque, N.M. He moved to Marenisco after his mother's death in 2010 and worked at the Lac Vieux Desert Resort and Casino in Watersmeet, Mich., prior to his illness. Scott was an avid fisherman, woodsman and skilled tradesman, much like his father.
The family wishes to thank Jayne Miller for her loving care of Scott during his last 18 months of life.
Donations in honor of Scott may be made to Voluntary Service/Milwaukee VA, 70-C-16, 5000 W. National Ave., Milwaukee, WI 53295. A memorial service is planned for July 2, 2017, in Marenisco.
