MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - Larry H. Goldman, 80, of Minneapolis, passed away Sept. 18, 2016.
He was preceded in death by parents, Ben and Dorothy (Abelman); and brother, Karl.
He is survived by wife, Helen, of 55 years; sons, Matt, David and Ken; daughters-in-law, Amy, Tera and Denise; and grandchildren, Elsa, Sam, Riley, Max, Nathan and Henry.
Larry was born in Marenisco, Mich., in 1935, graduated from the University of Minnesota and worked as an executive for Sears for 37 years. He adored his wife, sons, daughters-in-law and grandchildren and a multitude of cousins.
A rod and reel were never far from reach. He enjoyed catching fish in Midwestern lakes, the Strait of San Juan de Fuca, and in the tidal waters of South Carolina. He loved tennis, sports in the yard with his kids and grandchildren, fixing things around the house and cribbage with cousins in the Upper Peninsula. Never without at least one much-loved dog in the house (sometimes three), he also treasured long conversations with a cat named Squeakee.
The family extends it's gratitude to devoted caregivers, Jim, Niels, Beth, Esther and Jane. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Fairview Foundation, Riverside Professional Building Suite 119, 2450 Riverside Ave S, Minneapolis, MN 55454 or Beth Israel, PO Box 328, Beaufort, SC 29901
A private family service will take place in Minneapolis and memorial services will be held at later dates in Beaufort, S.C., and Bessemer, Mich.
In his later years Larry often said, "I've had a wonderful life. We sure had fun."
