Elizabeth 'Betty' M. (Pavlovich) Silkworth

HURLEY, Wis. — Elizabeth ‘Betty’ M. (Pavlovich) Silkworth, 92, passed away Thursday, Oct. 6, 2016, at the Villa Maria Health and Rehabilitation Center in Hurley.

Betty was born on July 15, 1924, to the late Thomas and Mary Pavlovich in Marenisco, Mich. She was united in marriage to Charles Silkworth, where they resided in Ironwood for 73 years.

Betty was preceded in death were her parents; her brothers, Malcom, Bobby, Tom, Steve and Paul; her sisters, Polly Rutherford and Kay Gilbertson, and infant sister, Katherine.

Surviving are her son, Doug (Donna), of Mukwonago; her daughter, Gail Penegor, of Franklin; her grandchildren, Richard (Suzanne) Silkworth, Nicole (Jeff) Schwark, Barrett Penegor, Elyse Penegor and Jacob Penegor; five great-grandchildren; her sisters, Fran Golembeski, of Jackson, Carol Brennan, Ironwood, Mich., sisters-in-law, Doris Kindred and Dorothy Silkworth, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Betty loved playing cards, cleaning, bingo, her dog, Fifi, canning her famous peppers, and many “sister” get-away week-ends. Most of all, she loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 21, at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Ironwood, with Rev. Kurt Brandon officiating. The family will receive relatives and friends starting at 10 a.m. at the church.
