Kay M. Paremsky

IRONWOOD, Mich. - Kay M. Paremsky, 75, of Ironwood, died peacefully Thursday evening, Oct. 27, 2016, at Westgate Nursing, Rehabilitation and Assisted Living Community in Ironwood, with Kathy's family by her side.

The former Kay Baluha was born May 7, 1941, in Ironwood, daughter of the late Frank and Gertrude (Schuman) Baluha, attended Ironwood schools and graduated from Luther L. Wright High School in 1959.

She was married to James A. Paremsky on Aug. 24, 1963, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Ironwood by the late Rev. Ambrose Matejik. Jim preceded her in death on June 14, 2007.

Kay worked for Michigan Bell Telephone Company in Ironwood, Simpson Electric in Mercer, Wis., Big Powderhorn Mountain in Bessemer, Walter Meyer Sausage Company in Ironwood, the Holiday Inn in Hurley, Wis., and at Gogebic Medical Care Facility in Wakefield for seven years, retiring in 2006.

She was a member of Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Ironwood and the former Holy Trinity Catholic Church, and the Red Hat Society. She also served as a volunteer for Regional Hospice. She enjoyed cross-country skiing, ceramics and flower gardening, and doing the cipher puzzle daily in the newspaper. She will be dearly missed by her family and many friends.

Surviving are two daughters, Kathy (David) Schwab, Ironwood, and Debbie (Dennis) Aspinwall, Bessemer Township; four grandchildren, Alyssa and Sean Schwab, Ironwood, and Dennis Ian and Andy Aspinwall, Bessemer Township; a brother-in-law, Chuck Tirpik, Bessemer; sister-in-law, Donna Baluha, Rockford, Ill .; numerous nieces and nephews, and a host of friends.

Besides her parents and husband, Kay was predeceased by a brother, Thomas Baluha; sister, Barbara Pontillo; father-and mother-in-law, Charles and Celia Tirpik; brother-in-law, Louis Pontillo; brother-and sister-in-law, Donald and Carol Paremsky; and her faithful kitty, TC.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, Nov. 1, at noon, preceded by visitation in the St. Joseph Family Room at 11 a.m., at Our Lady of Peace Church in Ironwood, with the Rev. Robb Jurkovich, celebrant.

Rite of Committal and interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Ironwood.

Luncheon will be served in the parish hall upon return from the cemetery.

Pallbearers will be David, Sean and Tim Schwab, Denny Kellett, and Ron and Don Pelkola.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to HOPE Animal Shelter, P.O. Box 261, Ironwood, MI 49938.
