BARAGA, Mich. - Patricia Christine Stenson, 66, of Baraga, formerly of Trout Creek, passed away on Saturday, Nov. 5, 2016, at her home with family by her side.
She was born Sept. 3, 1950, in Stambaugh, daughter to James and Eleanor (Nelson) Madden. Patty graduated from Ewen-Trout Creek High School in 1968 and then attended Gogebic Community College and received a certificate in data processing. She married Arthur Stenson on Nov. 8, 1969, in Trout Creek.
Patty worked at Nordine's in Bruce Crossing, then managed the White Door in Trout Creek, and then was a butcher at Settler's Co-op in Bruce Crossing. She retired in 2005 from Lac Vieux Desert Casino in Watersmeet where she was the restaurant manager. She moved to Baraga in 2013.
She was a member of KBIC. Patty enjoyed crossword puzzles, going to the casino with her sisters, and loved animals. She was an avid Lions fan and enjoyed watching her grandson play basketball at Michigan Technological University. Patty was devoted to her grandchildren. She had wit, a great sense of humor and was a good listener. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister and aunt.
Surviving are her daughters, Amanda (Daryl) Johnson of Kenton, and Shannon Stenson of Minot, N.D .; sisters, Peggy (Will) Edbrooke of Fremont, Jane (Steve) Salli of Covington, and Marie Scheiding of Eagle River, Wis .; grandchildren, Ariel and Dillon; granddog, Foxie; and brothers- and sisters-in-law as well as several close nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death are her parents; and her husband, Artie.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, Nove. 10, at 1 p.m. at the Covington Cemetery with Bob Knivila officiating. Fellowship, coffee and dessert will follow at the Covington multi-purpose building. The Jacobson Funeral Home is assisting the family.
