IRONWOOD, Mich. — Lucille Chartier, 94, of Hurley, died early Sunday morning, Nov. 27, 2016, at Aspirus Ironwood Hospital.
The former Lucille Negri was born May 15, 1922, in Pence, Wis., daughter of the late Joseph Sr. and Christina Negri. She graduated from Lincoln High School in Hurley in 1940, attended technical school in Ashland, Wis., and worked in a defense plant in Chicago for three years.
She was married to Roland Chartier on Dec. 29, 1945, at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Pence. He preceded her in death on March 17, 2000.
Lucille worked at Modern Dry Cleaners in Hurley for 30 years. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Hurley and its former Council of Catholic Women, Iron County Senior Citizens Association and the Auxiliary to Iron County Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1580. She was also former manager of the St. Mary’s Adult Choir and did altar work for 10 years.
Surviving are a son, Dale (Ruth) Chartier, Kenosha, Wis .; two daughters, Christine Day, El Paso, Texas, and Janet Chartier, Tampa, Fla .; three grandchildren, Kristen and Tara Chartier and Phillip (Rosario) Beals; and four great-grandchildren, Samantha Pendleton, Jayce Beals, JR (Melissa) Mayta and Lucas Beals, all of Kenosha.
Besides her parents and husband, Lucille was preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia Jean, in 1960; one brother, Joseph Negri Jr .; and three sisters, Jennie and Madeline Levra and Julia Cornetto.
Cremation has taken place.
Private family services will be held later in the spring, with inurnment to follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Hurley.
