Ruth D. Rouse

SALINE, Mich. - Ruth D. Rouse, 96, former longtime Ironwood resident, died Friday, Nov. 4, 2016, at the Evangelical Home in Saline.

She was born March 28, 1920, in Hurley, Wis., daughter of the late William J. and Olga (Dreger) Draver. The family moved to Verona Location, Wakefield, in 1924, where Ruth graduated from Wakefield High School in 1937.

She was married to Floyd Rouse on Jan. 20, 1940, at the First Presbyterian Manse in Ironwood by the late Rev. G.A. Kaltenbach. Floyd preceded her in death on Oct. 4, 2009.

Ruth was a longtime member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Ironwood and the United Methodist Women. She worked for many years at Paul's Womens Wear and Vertin's Department Store in downtown Ironwood.

Surviving are a son, William (Shirley), Havre De Grace, Md .; daughter, Janice (Lee) Larson, Ann Arbor; four grandchildren, Russel (Darcy) Rouse, Birmingham, Ala., Brenda Rouse, Churchville, Md., Kevin (Karen) Larson, Ann Arbor, and Denise (Timothy Jr.) Sanders, Dexter; four great-grandchildren, Ryan and Tyler Sanders, and Sarah and Eric Larson; brother, William J. Draver II, Evanston, Ill .; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Ruth was predeceased by three brothers, Charles, Kenneth and Raymond Draver; and two sisters, Gertrude Zochert and Jean Enzenbacher.

Out of respect for her wishes, cremation has taken place.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, Dec. 3, at 11 a.m., preceded by visitation at 10 a.m., at Wesley United Methodist Church in Ironwood, with the Rev. Rosemary DeHut officiating.

Committal will take place at the church, with luncheon to follow in the church fellowship hall.

Private inurnment will be in Riverside Cemetery, Ironwood.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Wesley United Methodist Church, 500 E. McLeod Ave., Ironwood, MI 49938.
