Hurley — The Hurley City Council revoked one liquor license and granted another on Tuesday to the same establishment.
The Class B combination beer and liquor license for MJ Petro Group, Inc., on Club Sierra, 21 Silver St., Michael Berghorn, president, was revoked.
Bill Nordeen, representing city attorney Ray O’Dea, who was attending a jury trial, said the revocation was because the establishment was abandoned for more than 90 days and Petro Group was dissolved in 2014. It, therefore, failed to possess the qualifications to obtain a license, Nordeen said.
No one spoke Tuesday against revoking the license after Nordeen gave the reasons to dissolve it.
Nordeen said a foreclosure occurred on the tavern this year.
The council then approved granting a liquor license to R and B, of Kimball, LLC, for Club Sierra, William Salonek, agent.
The council also agreed to amend the 2016 budget to purchase Tasers for the police department.
A resolution was approved by the council to borrow $47,194 from Associated Bank-Hurley to be used to refinance a state pension liability loan.
The council learned that police chief Chris Colassaco attended a recent training school in Madison.
