MILWAUKEE, Wis. - William J. "Bill" Holmquist, 76, has gone fishing with Jesus on Saturday, Dec. 10, 2016.
Bill was born in Ramsay, Mich. He loved the U.P. and visited often. Bill served in the U.S. Army and was part of the ASA. He earned his bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from the Univerisity of Wisconsin-Madison and retired as a bridge operator. Bill also gave very important contributions for Fragile X research. Most of all, Bill loved Jesus and his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Arvid and Bertha.
Devoted husband and soul mate of Jeanette (nee Gontarek); proud and loving dad of Karen (Cal) Falkenberg, Susan Cull, Janine and Michael (Elizabeth); cherished grandpa of Jamie, Jessica, Heather (Chris), Jacob, Officer Adam, Sophia, Hana and Lucas; great-grandfather of Samuel; dear brother of Richard (the late Irene), Russell (Soon Mi) and Joyce (the late John and Jack); and sweet brother-in-law of the late Val (Karen) and Christine, he is further survived by other relatives and friends.
A memorial gathering at Poplar Creek Assembly of God, New Berlin, will be held today, from 4 p.m. until time of service at 7 p.m.
Private burial will be at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Cemetery, Union Grove, Wis. In lieu of flowers, contributions will be used for a memorial.
