APPLETON, Wis. - Kathleen E. Huhta, 74, lifelong resident of Ironwood, Mich., passed away on Wednesday, Dec.7, 2016, at ThedaCare Regional Medical Center in Appleton.
She was born June 10, 1942, in Ironwood, the daughter of the late Sulo and Hilma (Niemi) Kangas.
Kathleen graduated from Luther L. Wright High School with the class of 1960. On Oct. 26, 1968, she married Maxwell L. Huhta. Kathleen worked for 27 years as a bookkeeper for Bentley Furniture Store and for WUPM Radio Station of Ironwood.
She enjoyed watching her son, Mark, play hockey for many years. Kathleen was an avid reader and enjoyed watching the Green Bay Packers, listening to her husband, Max, play his guitar, and especially enjoyed being a mother and grandmother. She spent the last few years of her life side by side her husband of 48 years in the Veterans Nursing Home in King.
She is survived by her husband, Max; her son, Mark (Maxine) Huhta, of South Pasadena, Fla .; her two daughters, Melissa (Brian) Zurawski, of Stevens Point, and Carol (Jason) Woelbing, of Redwood Valley, Calif .; her grandchildren, Amanda Rose Zurawski, and Colton and Grace Woelbing; and her sister, Susan Kangas, of Plover.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Gordon Kangas, and her sister-in-law, Maxine Kangas.
A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
