Barbara Ann Truax (Benna)

NOVATO, Calif. - Barbara Ann Truax (Benna), of Novato, died Monday, Oct. 31, 2016, of a heart attack in Marin County.

She was born Sept. 9, 1944, to Bernard and Ann Benna in Ironwood, Mich. After graduating from St. Ambrose High School, she graduated with a bachelor of science degree in medical technology from Michigan Technological University and worked for 10 years at Marin Medical Group.

She was a writer, and served as president of the California Writers Club for several years. She also had an active role with the American Association of University Women. She spent years traveling extensively worldwide. She was married to Donald Truax for 36 years. He preceded her in death in 2005.

Barb is survived by her sister, Donna Bohannan (Bruce), and their daughter, Abby, of Colorado; cousins, Cathy Quasius (Mike) and their children, Dan and Melinda, and Dave Benna (Karen) and their children, Kelsey and Emily, of Wisconsin; and nephew, James Truax (Sarah) and their son, Wyatt, of Massachusetts.

Cremation has taken place.

The memorial service was held on Dec. 9 at New Beginnings Center (Key Room) in Novato.
