Mount Pleasant, Mich. — Nancy Jean (Pietila) Ashbrook, 66 passed away on Friday, January 6, 2017 in Mount Pleasant, Mich. Nancy was born in Bruce Crossing on March 18, 1950 to the late Albert and Ruth (Johnson) Pietila. She is a 1968 graduate of E-TC High School. During her years of employment she worked for the FHA, restaurant work, casino work and self-employed.
In earlier years she was an avid outdoors person that loved to go hunting and fishing. She also participated in league golf and bowling. She absolutely loved to play cribbage, scrabble, puzzles, dice and card games with family and friends.
Nancy also enjoyed crafting, crocheting, and reading. She was also an amazing baker. Nancy was also blessed with the gift of gab, as well as a keen memory. Both combined made her quite a storyteller. She was fun spirited with a heart of gold, she will be missed by many.
She is survived by her son, Keith (Carrie) Ashbrook and her daughter Jolene (Scott) Olson (Ashbrook); three grandchildren, Avory Olson, Autumn Ashbrook-Pietila and Neebin Ashbrook-Pietila; three sisters, Sally (Pietila) Pantti Kempinen, Peggy (Pietila) Knivila and Cathy (Pietila) Welsh. One brother William Pietila. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews and her great niece. Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Robert Pietila and her niece Christina (Pantti) Shamion.
Visitation will take place Tuesday, November 10, 2017, from 1:00 PM until time of services at 2:00 p.m. at the Cane Funeral Home, Bruce Crossing, Mich.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, January 10, 2016 at the Cane Funeral Home, Bruce Crossing Chapel with Pastor Steven Washburn officiating. Burial will take place in the spring at Evergreen Cemetery.
