Marvin C. Burgraff

DULUTH, Minn. - Marvin C. Burgraff, 78, of Hurley, Wis., died peacefully Sunday evening, Feb. 26, 2017, at St. Luke's Hospital in Duluth, with his loving daughter by his side.

He was born March 1, 1938, in Superior, Wis., son of the late John Sr. and Evelyn (Clark) Burgraff, and graduated from Superior Central High School in 1956. He then served four years stateside in the U.S. Air Force. Following his discharge, he worked for Wisconsin Bell Telephone Co. for 31 years, retiring as a central office technician in 1991.

Marv enjoyed woodworking, playing golf, fixing just about anything and was a charter member of Eagle Bluff Golf Club. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

On March 6, 1971, he married Charlene Samuelson in West Farmington, Wis. She preceded him in death on March 15, 1987.

Surviving are a daughter, Jean (James) Michael, Sauk Rapids, Minn .; two grandchildren, Samantha and Amelia Michael; two sisters, Donna (Russell) Sanders, Port Charlotte, Fla., and Evelyn Preston, Superior; and sister-in-law, Patricia Burgraff, Lake Nebagamon, Wis.

Besides his parents and wife, Marv was predeceased by a daughter, Sandra, at birth in 1975; two brothers, Stuart and John Jr .; and two sisters, Betty Burgraff and Barbara Beach.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 4, at 11 a.m., preceded by visitation at 10 a.m., at McKevitt-Patrick Funeral Home, 305 N. Lowell St., in Ironwood, with Pastor Kurt Kovanen officiating.

A flag presentation ceremony will be accorded by representatives of the Ironwood American Legion Post 5 Honor Guard.

Luncheon will follow at the Iron Nugget in downtown Hurley.

Spring committal and interment will be in the Hurley Cemetery.
