ALTOONA, Wis. - Lorraine A. Rosenberg, 91, formerly of Hurley, passed away peacefully in her sleep at her home in Altoona on March 14, 2017.
Lorraine, daughter of Roman and Marie (Gironimi) Pedri, was born in Vulcan, Mich., on April 17, 1925. She graduated from St. Mary's Grade School in 1940 and Lincoln High School, Hurley, in 1944. After high school, she worked in Milwaukee for A.C. Spark.
Lorraine was a member of St. Mary's of the Seven Dolors Catholic Church in Hurley. She was a deeply religious, strong, proud, Italian woman who overcame challenging events throughout her life, always triumphing stronger and more adept for and from them.
Lorraine married Kenny (Kenneth Rosenberg) in 1959. Together, through their love, Pam (Dan) Linick, of Livonia, Mich., and Kevin (Ann Ducay) Rosenberg, of Eau Claire, were born.
Family was a very strong presence in Lorraine's life. She loved her children and their families dearly. She also was a nurturing essence to several nieces and nephews.
Lorraine loved traveling, playing cards or dice, and, most importantly, her grandchildren, Meaghan, of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Brady, of Vietnam.
She also enjoyed cooking (her Gnocchi were fantastic and Grandma Pedri's Gourmet Bread was always a delight). Many times, holiday meals ensured three roasts; beef, porketta and venison - along with the all the trimmings.
As a "pet grandmother," Lorraine helped rear two litters of pug puppies. Maude (mom), Junior, Emma and Oakley would visit often. They were a cherished part of her later years. Over the past year, Lorraine also saw the joy of her latest four-legged "pet grandchild," Berwyn.
Lorraine was preceded in death by her husband, Kenny; parents, Roman and Marie Pedri; her very dear second mother, Josephine Pedri; and a brother, Richard.
A public prayer vigil will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, April 15, at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home, 814 First Avenue in Eau Claire, with Father Don Meuret presiding. A visitation will be held following the vigil until 5 p.m. on Saturday.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 27, 2017, at St. Mary's of the Seven Dolors Catholic Church, 401 Iron St., Hurley, with visitation one hour prior to the Mass at the church. Inurnment will take place in the Hurley Cemetery.
The family of Lorraine would also like to extend a special "Thank You" to the Staff of Care Partners in Altoona.
