WAKEFIELD, Mich. – Ardis "Maryann" Berno, 75, of Wakefield, entered eternal life Saturday, April 29, 2017.
Maryann was born on May 24, 1941, at Divine Infant Hospital in Wakefield, a daughter of Raymond C. and Edna M. (Urbanski) Johnson.
On Sept. 20, 1958, Maryann was united in marriage to Benjamin J. "Benjie" Berno. They made their home in Wakefield and were blessed with four children.
In earlier years, she worked at Roger Randall Bakery. Maryann began her career in health care as a devoted certified nurse's aide at Villa Maria and concluded at Keen Agers.
Maryann enjoyed camping and fishing and took pleasure in finding treasures at rummage sales.
Maryann is survived by a son, Benjamin R. (Anita), Iron Mountain; two daughters, Donna (Denny) Bessa, Arbor Vitae, Wis., and Sherry Berno, Wakefield; 10 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and other relatives.
She was predeceased by her parents; her beloved husband, Benjamin, on Oct. 27, 2011; and a daughter, Debra Buitendorp, on Aug. 26, 2015.
In accordance with Maryann's wishes, cremation will take place.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, May 6, at 11 a.m., preceded by visitation at 10 a.m., at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 407 Ascherman St., in Wakefield, with the Rev. Dominic Agyapong, celebrant. Also in attendance will be the Immaculate Conception Women's Guild Honor Guard.
Luncheon will be served at the church hall following the Mass.
