Serving Gogebic, Iron and Ontonagon Counties

KIMBALL, Wis. - Regardless of one's favorite type of pie, there was a decent chance it was available at the Kimball Community Center Saturday as the Kimball Homemakers held its annual pie social and craft show.
The pie social has been a staple for the organization for the least three to four decades; raising funds for a variety of charitable causes, organizer Mary Smith said.
"All of our funds go back into the community," she said.
While the group hasn't decided what cause to support this year, Smith said last year's event raised money to help the Iron County Human Services Department purchase car seats to be used when transporting children.
Smith said she was pleased with the event's turn out.
"(Turnout is) good, steady," Smith said. "It's lunchtime now, so it's picking up just a little bit."
In addition to the pies, the menu also featured soup and barbecue sandwiches. There were also vendor's set up in the community center's other room, offering a variety of goods visitors could purchase.
