Man arrested in Ironwood on burglary charge

IRONWOOD — A man was arrested early Sunday morning in Ironwood on a burglary related charge.

The man, 28 — who authorities are declining to identify until his arraignment Monday — was arrested on the charge of possession of burglar’s tools at 1 a.m. Sunday.

Gogebic County Prosecutor Nick Jacobs authorized a warrant for the 10-year felony, according to a Gogebic Iron Area Narcotics Team press release.

The man recently moved to the area from Stevens Point, Wis., according to the release, and is being held at the Gogebic County Sheriff’s Department on a $50,000 bond — at least 10 percent of which must be posted before he can be released. The Wisconsin Department of Corrections also issued a warrant for the man, with no bond, for a probation violation.

According to the release, the investigation in the case has expanded — both throughout Gogebic County and into Iron County, Wis., and additional charges are expected to be brought in the case in both jurisdictions.
