LAKE GOGEBIC, Mich. — James T. Uerling, 56, of Lake Gogebic, passed away Wednesday afternoon, May 3, 2017.
Jim was born on June 1, 1960, in Tawas City, a son of Paul H. and Betty J. (Bowerman) Uerling. He attended Manistique High School and graduated in 1978.
Jim was an excellent cook and was employed at several restaurants throughout Michigan.
He was an avid Detroit sports fan and took great pleasure in attending games while living in the Detroit area. His love for the Lions never waned in Packer country.
Jim enjoyed hunting, going to hunting camp with his dad in Rock, fishing and watching wildlife at his home.
He was a caregiver for his dad for more than four-and-a-half years and had a very special place in his heart for his friend, Father Moncher.
Jim is survived by a sister, Mary; a brother, Paul B .; an uncle, Mike Lillie; many cousins; and his beloved Labrador, Missy.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A funeral liturgy will be held Friday, May 12, at 3 p.m., preceded by visitation at 2 p.m., at St. Catherine Catholic Church in Marenisco. The Rev. Raymond F. Moncher will officiate.
A committal service and interment will be at Marenisco Cemetery.
A luncheon will be served at the Marenisco Town Hall.
