BESSEMER, Mich. - Charlotte Ann (Schwartz) Hoffner, 68, a lifelong resident of Bessemer, passed away Thursday evening, May 11, 2017.
Char was born on April 17, 1949, in Tomahawk, Wis., a daughter of Bruce Marlin and Florence Edith (Hill) Schwartz. She attended A.D. Johnston High School in Bessemer and graduated in 1967.
Char was a dedicated employee of the Gogebic County Friend of the Court until she retired after 18 years of faithful service.
Char was especially proud of her grandsons and absolutely loved spending time with them. Every holiday she made sure the boys were sent their favorite cookies and treats, and they always looked forward to receiving her special packages. Grandma supported whatever sport they participated in. Her favorite summer pastime was gardening, and she took great pleasure in walking her dog, Pebbles.
She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
Char is survived by a son, Jason Lee (Jessica), Monroe; four grandsons, Ethan, Owen, Kyle and Cole, all of Monroe; five brothers, Dick (Bonnie) Schwartz, Ironwood, and Gene (Brenda) Schwartz, Randy (Renee) Schwartz, Kurt Schwartz and Jim (Dede) Schwartz, all of Bessemer; two sisters, Wendy Komula, Madison, Wis., and Paula (Ross) Solberg, Bessemer; her sister-in-law, Becky Schwartz, Ironwood; two aunts and an uncle; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by her parents; a sister, Carol Joy Conley Schwartz; and a brother, Ronald Dean Schwartz.
In accordance with Char's wishes, cremation will take place.
A graveside service will be held Wednesday, May 17, at 1 p.m., at the Hillcrest Cemetery, Bessemer. The Rev. Bill Jacobson will officiate.
Family and friends are invited for refreshments after the cemetery service at the Bessemer City Hall auditorium.
