Serving Gogebic, Iron and Ontonagon Counties

UPSON, Wis. - A group of hikers explored the area around Wren Falls in Iron County Saturday, as the Heritage Chapter of the North Country Trail Association led a guided hike to mark National Trails Day.
Beginning where the trail crosses Casey Sag Road in Upson, Joe Kravetz and Bethany Thomas led a group of 12 hikers to the falls.
In addition to Wren Falls, the roughly 3.5- to 4-mile hike featured stops at a scenic overlook offering a view of the Gogebic Range, as well as the remnants of an alleged gold mining operation - although some doubt any actual mining happened and it was more of a scam.
Following the conclusion of the hike at Wren Falls on the Tyler Forks, the group took a short detour to explore the nearby Potato River's Foster Falls.
The hikers were then shuttle backed to their vehicles at Casey Sag Road for the ride home.
