WAKEFIELD, Mich. - Frances Ann "Fran" Bogdan, 93, of Bessemer, passed away on Wednesday, May 24, 2017, in Wakefield.
Fran was born April 10, 1924, in Puritan Location, Bessemer Township, the daughter of Victorio and Mary (Negri) Moro.
Fran attended Puritan School and A.D. Johnston High School, graduating with the Class of 1942. On Nov. 7, 1942 she married Robert A. Bentzen in Bessemer. He preceded her in death in 1990.
Fran worked as a telephone operator and as a sales clerk at various stores in Ironwood. Her last employment was at Eva Wurl's.
On Sept. 11, 1999, she married Anton "Tony" Bogdan at St. Sebastian Catholic Church in Bessemer by Father Joseph Carne. He preceded her in death on July 20, 2010.
Fran enjoyed knitting and crocheting, and especially enjoyed to polka.
She is survived by her daughter, Roberta "Bobbie" (Russell) Willson, of Bessemer; two granddaughters, Tracey (Billy) Jensen, of Ironwood, and Gina Benson, of Jackson; five great-grandchildren, Colten, Michael, Hunter, Jennifer and Isaiah; a sister, Violet Koski, of Bessemer; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Shirley Mueller in 1998; her two brothers, Peter and Alfred Moro; and three sisters, Elizabeth Dalphonso, Yolanda Spagnoletti and Elvira Ryan.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 9, at St. Sebastian Catholic Church in Bessemer. Father Dominic Agyapong will be the celebrant. Fran's family will receive relatives and friends one hour prior to the mass at the church on Friday. A luncheon will follow in the social hall. Inurnment will be in the Hillcrest Cemetery in Bessemer.
