CHANDRA PORTELL, holding the western Upper Peninsula's signature forms for the initiation of legislation to legalize recreational marijuana use in the state of Michigan Tuesday evening. Portell drove eight hours round trip on Monday to pick up the signature forms so the signatures could begin getting collected Wednesday. Portell hopes to collect at least 800 signatures between Ironwood and Houghton. The coalition to legalize recreational use has divided the U.P into three zones, with Portell and Gogebic County Cultivation Creation acting as local coordinator for the western zone.
