Jerome F. Lazowski

MARQUETTE, Mich. - Jerome F. Lazowski, 88, of Ironwood, passed away on Tuesday, May 30, 2017, at D. J. Jacobetti Home for Veterans in Marquette.

He was born April 4, 1929, in Ironwood, the son of the late Michael and Amelia (Ziemba) Lazowski.

Jerome graduated from Luther L. Wright High School in Ironwood with the Class of 1947. He worked at a shoe repair shop for a time before entering the service. Jerome served in the U.S. Air Force from 1951 to 1954 during the Korean Conflict. Part of his service was served in Okinawa Japan. On June 29, 1957, he married Darla Gean Symons. She preceded him in death in April 2013. Jerome worked at several area mines before working until his retirement at White Pine Copper Mine.

Jerome loved the outdoors and spent much of his free time fishing, hunting or walking in the woods.

He is survived by his daughter, Pamela Spady of Marquette; his granddaughter, Victoria Spady of Chicago; and two brothers, Donald Lazowski of Reedsville, Wis., and Raymond Lazowski of Ironwood.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his son, Tim in 2010; his sister, Betty Olsen; and three brothers, James, Michael and William.

A memorial luncheon will be held on Tuesday, June 20, at the Elk & Hound Restaurant in Ironwood from noon to 2:30 p.m. A private family inurnment will be held at Riverside Cemetery in Ironwood.

The family would like to thank Jocobetti Home for Veterans for the wonderful care they gave Jerome in his last days.
