MADISON, Wis. - Ramona Rose Hamann, 80, passed away peacefully June 4, 2017, in Madison, surrounded by her loving family.
Mona was born in Eagle Valley in 1937 to Anton and Blanch Patzner. She grew up on a dairy farm near Lewiston, Minn. After graduating from Kotter High School in Winona, Minn., she was trained as a nurse at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, Minn., and went on to become a highly skilled surgical nurse spending most of her career at Fairview Southdale Hospital in Edina, Minn.
Her true passion was fishing - which she enjoyed rain or shine, hot or cold, every chance she got. She raised her family in Minnetonka, Minn., moving to Hurley to enjoy retirement, then to Rochester and finally Madison to be closer to family.
She is survived by her husband, Richard Hamann; her children, Lisa O'Connor and Richard Hamann Jr. (Jean); and her grandchildren, Jack O'Connor, Ryan O'Connor, Caitlin O'Connor, Richard Hamann III and Charles Hamann.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, June 9, at St. Bernard Catholic Church, at 2015 Palmenter St. in Middleton. A celebration of life will be held from noon to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 12, at Studio 324 located at 324 S. Broadway, Suite 100, Rochester, Minn.
