Ironwood — The Ironwood City Commission will act on awarding bids for demolishing two eyesore structures on Monday.

The demolitions are part of the continuing Hardest Hit grant program that has allowed the city to remove dozens of eyesores in the past several years.

On Monday, commissioners will consider approving bids to Snow Country Contracting, Inc., for the demolition and removal of structures at 213 Greenbush St. for $9,308 and 330 King St. for $12,990.

A third bid for razing a commercial structure at 238 E. Ayer St. was also received from Snow County Contracting, but city officials recommend it be rejected, since it came in at $77,867.

The commission will hear a presentation from Ironwood Community Development Director Tom Bergman on first Friday of the month shopping day downtown.

A resolution recognizing the Wisconsin-Michigan Destroyers AAA and Ironwood Fighting Yoopers as nonprofit organizations operating in the community for the purpose of obtaining charitable gaming licenses will be considered.

A resolution will address final costs of the assessor’s plat of Aurora Lands.

Commissioners will also consider approving an extension of the gas plant tolling agreement regarding the clean-up of tar in the ground along the Montreal River at the former city gasification plant.

A bid from Mukavitz Heating, Inc., for $9,175 for the repair of the heating system at the public safety department building will also come before the commission.
