Ironwood - Locals and visitors enjoy staying at the many campgrounds throughout the area during the summer months. Curry Park in Ironwood is a destination for some, and a stopping point for others.

Deven of northern Minnesota spent the weekend camping at Curry Park with her fiance and two children Dresden and Cash. They plan to move to the area, and are enjoying some of the natural wonders it has to offer. "I like it here a lot, its really pretty." said Deven. The family went to Little Girl's Point and Black River Harbor over the weekend. "We also like to go agate picking at the beach."

"We love coming up here to get back to nature." said another camper, Mellissa Denk of central Illinois. Denk comes to the area every year with her husband Mark to go fishing at the Gile Flowage. "My husband has fished in the Northwoods since he was a little boy." said Denk, "this is our go-to spot when we come up here."

The couple drives over 8 hours to get here. "We've been here every summer for the past 7 years. The park is always clean, and the camp hosts are very nice." They enjoy the scenery that this area has to offer. "Its a lot different here, you've got your trees and lakes, and natural pine trees."

Scott Edwards from Nina, Wis. relaxed at the park on Saturday. Edwards is riding his bike to Seattle to see his daughter. "The price is right and it's a nice area to stop." said Edwards who was sitting at a picnic table near his tent enjoying some relaxation from the day's ride.

Edwards is a published photographer, and has done trips like this in the past. He did a 2000 mile walk from Wisconsin to the Grand Canyon in 2006. "I always wanted to visit the Grand Canyon, so I figured why not just walk there."

Edwards plans to continue his journey by heading to Ashland, Wis. next. "When I find the right town, I might settle down." said Edwards.

Gloria Crain and her husband John are here from Bluntville, Tenn., "We started out in Ely, and traveled along the North Shore before heading this way." said Crain. "We have family here, so we like to come visit just about every year."

"Its not as hot here and the culture is different, it's nice to visit. I'm a teacher, so I like to come here in the summer to unwind." They enjoy fishing in the boundary waters and other area lakes. "I caught a couple of pike and John caught some perch," said Crain. "

The couple was planning to head to Little Girl's Point later in the afternoon on Saturday. They like to visit several different campgrounds throughout the Northwoods, including Sylvania and Little Girl's Point. "We like to come to this park because its centrally located and has nice amenities."
