HURLEY, Wis. - Clara B. Zarziski, 93, of Ironwood, Mich., died peacefully Tuesday evening, July 11, 2017, at Sky View Nursing Center in Hurley, with her niece, Linda, by her side.
The former Clara Magdziak was born June 2, 1924, in Ironwood, daughter of the late Charles and Anna (Guzek) Magdziak, attended Ironwood schools and graduated from Luther L. Wright High School in 1944. She then worked as a chambermaid at the St. James Hotel in downtown Ironwood, was employed at Hansen Glove Factory until its closing in 1960, and worked on the line at Simpson Electric in Mercer until 1976.
Clara was a member of Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Ironwood and the former St. Michael's Catholic Church. Lovingly known to her family as "Bebe," she was an avid bingo player and especially enjoyed her dog, Duke.
On July 13, 1973, she was married to Theodore "Ted" Zarziski at St. Michael's Church by the late Father Frank Ronkowski. Ted preceded her in death on Oct. 10, 1995.
Surviving are nieces and nephews, Linda Palmer, Kathy Koski, Jim Manchester, Joe (Karen) Magdziak, Jim Magdziak, Geraldine Gentile, Sandy (Rick) Lantta, Penny Jacisin, Jackie Paulson and John (Cheryl) Grendziak; and numerous great-nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by brothers, John and Frank Magdziak; sisters, Stella Pawlak, Rose Manchester and Mary Grendziak; a niece, Janice Lahti; and nephews, Chuck Magdziak, Jerry Grendziak and Bob Grendziak.
Per Clara's wishes, cremation has taken place and private services will be held.
