Bessemer - The Bessemer Area Historical Society has another empty chair as Myron Re stepped down from the board of directors.
An infusion of youth and vitality is needed on the board of directors before the BAHS becomes non-functional.
Membership is up to 136 and even more people have transferred their memberships to lifetime memberships, but the number of vacancies is growing with Re's open chair seat joining Ed Sendene's.
The BAHS spent 637 fewer dollars than they brought in over the last year and is moving closer to acquiring a seasonal internet access for next summer. Connie Pricco, the new secretary replacing Re, is planning on staining the wood statue in the Bessemer Commons before the statue deteriorates due to the elements.
The Historical Society of Michigan membership was due for renewal and the board approved sending the $50 to maintain the membership.
