Hurley - The annual Heritage Days Parade was held on Saturday afternoon on Silver Street in downtown Hurley. The sunny weather made for an ideal summer day as crowds lined the street for the event.

The parade was kicked off with the color guard led by members of Vietnam Veterans Post 529 and the American Legion Post 58 of Hurley, along with the singing of the national anthem by Skylar Traczyk.

They were followed by fire engines from Hurley and surrounding towns, a tractor medley, various class reunion floats, the Hurley Alumni Marching Band and the Hurley cheerleaders. Children cheered and collected candy from the curb.

"What a great day for a parade," said Ricky Kelly, who made announcements from a stand outside Giovanoni's as the floats rolled past.

The floats were judged in three different categories: best overall, best reunion and best youth. The judges were Montreal Mayor Todd Haeger, Hurley Mayor Joe Pinardi and Kelly Klein with the Iron County Development Zone.

This year's winners were the antique tractors in the overall category, Hurley High School cheerleaders in the youth category and the Class of '67 in the reunion category. Each winner will be awarded with a trophy.
