KYLE PETERSON sits in the cab of an excavator as he waits for a dump truck to bring another load of sand to fill in a large hole that was dug Friday morning as part of a sewer line repair project near the bridge over the Montreal River, where the Iron Belle Trail crosses from Michigan into Hurley. There are plans for a trailhead to be located between the river and U.S. 51 and between the snowmobile and non-motorized trails, but a broken pipe was discovered and it needed to be repaired before other improvements.
