EAGLE RIVER, Wis. — Francis Joseph “Joe” Gorshe, Jr., age 70, a resident of Eagle River, Wis., passed away on August 17, 2017.
Joe was born in Phelps, Wis. on May 10, 1947 to Francis Gorshe, Sr. and Dorothy (NEE Sorlie) Gorshe. He graduated from Watersmeet High School and Joined the Navy. Joe moved to Wausau, Wis. and worked at Land O Lakes Candy. He owned and operated Third Avenue Bait Shop and retired from the Post Office.
Joe was married and had two daughters: JoRene Gorshe and Jennifer Lemere. Later he was married to his wife Heidi Allen. They resided in Watersmeet, Mich. and then moved to their present home in Eagle River, Wis.
Joe thoroughly enjoyed his retirement in the Northwoods. He enjoyed activities with his wife, kids and granddaughter. He loved to fish, pontoon, walk the dogs, feed the deer, and play computer games. He also loved texting his granddaughter, Marliese, who lovingly called him “grampa up North.”
Joe was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Robert “Tom” Gorshe of Florida. He is survived by his wife, Heidi Gorshe, of Eagle River, Wis .; daughters, JoRene Gorshe of Milwaukee, Wis. and Jennifer (Shawn) Lemere of Cecil, Wis .; granddaughter, Marliese Lemere; brothers, Harold (Margot) Allen of Arizona, Gerald Gorshe, of Wausau, Wis. and Timothy (Carmen) Gorshe, of Texas; sisters, Mary Malinowski of Wausau, Wis. and Ann (Greg) Baker, of Lake Geneva, Wis .; numerous nieces and nephews.
