Fishing Tourney

CHINOOK SALMON have arrived near shore in Lake Superior at Black River Harbor just in time for the Labor Day weekend fishing tournament. Photographer Al Vuorenmaa said all of the salmon were fin-clipped, meaning they were stocked by the Department of Natural Resources and raised by the Black River Harbor Boating Club four years ago. The crew of Don Maki, Jim Johnson and Dan Martinson boated five fish, while Shemp Maslanka and Ben Pertile pulled in two, including a 15-pounder.
