IRONWOOD, Mich. - Shirley M. Cabianca, age 91, of Bessemer, died on Saturday, Sept. 2, 2017 in Ironwood.
She was born Dec. 8, 1925 in Duluth, Minn., the daughter of the late Harry and Mary (Dobinski) Miller.
Shirley attended Bessemer schools, graduating from A.D. Johnston High School with the Class of 1943. On July 26, 1947, she was united in marriage to Lawrence Cabianca at St. Sebastian Catholic Church in Bessemer. He preceded her in death on Dec. 6, 2008.
She is survived by two sons, John "Jay" Cabianca of Bessemer, and Jim Cabianca of Houghton, Mich .; her daughter, Laurie (Bob) Halvorson of Bessemer; four grandsons, Tyler Jackovich, Trevor (Ashley) Jackovich, Brady (Gina Sanchez) Halvorson all of Bessemer, and Brian (Kelsey Byard) Halvorson of Menomonee Falls, Wis .; two granddaughters, Bobbi Jo Halvorson of Brighton, Mich., and Kristin Halvorson of Narragansett, Rhode Island; sister-in-law, Irene Fingeroos of Bessemer; and special nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Candy Jackovich on May 25, 1997.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 7, 2017 at St. Sebastian Catholic Church in Bessemer. Fr. Dominic Agyapong will be the celebrant. Shirley's family will receive relatives and friends one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery in Bessemer.
