Ironwood Township — While it was a matter of routine, the Ironwood Township Board of Trustees approved the township’s winter tax rate Monday.
The move is part of a standard process the township has to complete each year, according to Treasurer Maria Graser, and is requested by the county.
“They’re just looking for us to sign off on (the rates). Nothing is changing from last winter’s taxes,” Graser said. “It’s just for our millages for our operational costs and for our roads.”
The operational millage will be set at approximately 4.252 mills and the road millage will be roughly .995.
Graser made clear these are the same rates as previous years and the board wasn’t increasing taxes.
Both millages expire in 2018, according to information presented to the board.
The board’s motion authorized the necessary officials to sign the request form from the county.
