Hurley — A woman who previously taught at the Hurley K-12 school has been charged with three counts of exposing a child to harmful material.
Nikki Pieczynski, 48, of Oshkosh, is alleged to have sent nude photos of herself to a former student at Hurley.
She is scheduled for an initial appearance in Iron County Court on Monday on the charges filed by Iron County District Attorney Matt Tingstad on Sept. 18 after an investigation by the Hurley Police Department.
The criminal complaint alleges a juvenile who had assisted the teacher in the classroom and sought to be a teacher’s aide told Pieczynski that he or she missed Pieczynski.
Pieczynski left the Hurley School District and moved to Oshkosh for the 2016-17 school year. The juvenile was then snap-chatted five pictures from Pieczynski after she left Hurley, according to the complaint.
On Aug. 28 of this year, HPD Sgt. Donald Packmayer received records from Pieczynski’s phone, according to the complaint, and he determined the photos provided by the student were sent from September 2016 through Dec. 10, 2016, when the student was 17 years old.
Each count carries a possible jail sentence of up to three years and a fine up to $10,000.
