MERCER, Wis. - While the organizers of most events would be disappointed if there was rain during their events, Mercer Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Chelcie Pinsonneault wasn't too worried about the rain during this weekend's 15th annual Pumpkin Run.
"That doesn't bother them, at all," Pinsonneault said, regarding all-terrain vehicle side-by-side riders enjoying rain since it creates mud on the trails.
The multi-day event wrapped up Saturday with a parade of 28 participants taking a rail grade from Mercer's Department of Natural Resources Ranger Station to the Lazy Ace Saloon, where a wrap-up party was held.
The rest of the event primarily featured a poker run, Pinsonneault said, where riders get a sheet with participating businesses listed and getting stamps for meeting various requirements at each business they visit.
"Each stamp equals the amount of cards you get, and then best poker hand wins," Pinsonneault said.
Pinsonneault was pleased with how the event went, saying she heard good things from the business owners.
"Everyone's been saying it's been pretty busy, which is good to hear. I had over 200 people sign up for the poker run" she said, "I think it's one of our best years yet."
