WAKEFIELD, Mich. - Lillian I. Pluto, 92, of Bessemer, formerly of Ironwood, died peacefully on Saturday, Oct. 14, 2017 in Wakefield. She was born August 1, 1925 in Tennyson, Ind., the daughter of the late Charles and Mrytle (Evans) Patmore.
On August 11, 1941 she was united in marriage to Mike Pluto in Charleston, Mo. He preceded her in death on Feb. 2, 2002. Lillian had resided in Ironwood for many years, moving to Bessemer in 2012. Her family was the most important thing in Lillian's life. She enjoyed Christian music, gardening and needlepoint.
She is survived one son, Michael Jr. of Hurley; two daughters, Janice Marlene Johnson of Colorado Springs, Colo, and Sharon (Jim) Baksic of Bessemer; two grandchildren, Michele (David) Kramer of Commerce Township, Mich., and Michael Daniel Pluto of Sault Ste. Marie; one great-grandson, Dylan James Kramer of Commerce Township; and several nieces.
The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 18, at Ketola-Burla Funeral Home in Ironwood. Pastor Roy Speck will officiate. Lillian's family will receive relatives and friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Wednesday. Honorary Pallbearers will be, Jim Baksic, Michael Pluto, David Kramer, Jim Czerniak, Jamey Francis, and Jim Baross. Burial will be at Hillcrest Cemetery in Bessemer.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Regional Hospice, Bessemer Public Library, or Gogebic Medical Care Facility.
