Serving Gogebic, Iron and Ontonagon Counties
BESSEMER — The Gogebic-Ontonagon Continuum of Care is helping organize a Project Homeless Connect event Friday, Nov. 10, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Gogebic-Ontonagon Community Action Agency site at 100 S. Mill St. in Bessemer.
It’s part of a national initiative sponsored by the U.S. Interagency Council on Homelessness.
The mission is to rally Gogebic County service providers and volunteers to support the one-day event that attempts to create lasting solutions for individuals and families experiencing homelessness, according to CAA organizer Pat Niksich.
The homeless are given the opportunity to review the health and human services options that are available to them.
The goal of Project Homeless Connect is to provide “easy access” to the services and resources that support transition of the county’s homeless into housing arrangements, Niksich said.
