IRONWOOD TOWNSHIP, Mich. - Geraldine R. "Geri" Tiziani, 78, a longtime Ironwood Township resident, died unexpectedly Saturday morning, Oct. 21, 2017, in her home.
The former Geraldine Glinske was born Oct. 6, 1939, in Phelps, Wis., daughter of the late Earl and Norma (Polzin) Glinske, and attended school in Watersmeet.
She married Robert J. Tiziani on Nov. 29, 1958, at St. Albert's Catholic Church in Land O' Lakes, Wis. They resided briefly in Negaunee, Eau Claire and Superior, Wis., before returning to Ironwood Township. Robert preceded Geri in death on July 9, 1998.
Geri was an avid reader and enjoyed gardening, word search puzzles, going to the casino, and cooking and baking in her younger years. She loved spending time with her grandchildren.
Surviving are two sons, Steven and Michael, both of Ironwood Township; two daughters, Dawn (Mike) O'Leary, Ironwood Township, and Michelle (Craig) Schulner, Eau Claire, Wis .; nine grandchildren, Lillian, Eleanor and Sylvia Tiziani, Jessica (Keith) Tippett, Kayla O'Leary, Jason O'Leary, Samantha Schulner, and Kevin and Kylee Tiziani; a great-grandson, Kanaan Tippett; sister, Carole Degner, Wausau, Wis .; sister-in-law, MaryLou Tiziani, Marquette; numerous nieces, nephews and friends; special friends, LaRue Treder and Karen Wedenoja; and her cat, Cheyanne.
In addition to her parents and husband, Geri was predeceased by a daughter and son in infancy; sons, Brian, in 2001, and Barry, in 2006; brothers-in-law, Elmer Degner, Julius Tiziani and James Caron; and sister- and brother-in-law, Mary Ann Caron-Fisher and Bud Fisher.
Out of respect for Geri's wishes, cremation has taken place.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, Oct. 26, at 11 a.m., at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Ironwood, with Father Robb Jurkovich, celebrant.
Luncheon will immediately follow in the parish hall.
Rite of Committal and inurnment will be in Sunset Acres Cemetery, Ironwood Township.
Relatives and friends may call in the St. Joseph Family Room at the church from 10 to 11 a.m. on Thursday, where members of Pere Menard Assembly No. 471, Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus, will serve as honor guard.
